I have been greatly blessed by working with Heather Thompson (Founder and Director of Powerpack Ministries) since I was 14 years old. Through out that time I have seen God do incredible things in the lives of children, families, leaders and churches across the world. Her passion to see God move powerfully and to release His Spirit rubs off! Rubs off on me and very often others would like her to come to visit their church, their children’s group.
Then the question comes ‘Can we book you for training and children’s work?’ “Yes!” Heather will reply, “My diary is pretty busy but I can offer you one of two weekends in this calendar year.” The conversation then gets tricky.
The next tricky thing is the church booking her is 220 miles away, so a 440 mile round trip, that’s 6-7 hours of travel time, plus preparation time, plus the weekend itself. It’s about 5 days work, plus £160 of expenses – totalling a realistic gift of between £500-600. Wow! She never asks for this, and God has always provided for her and Powerpack but she is worth more than that total.
So I suppose this site Children’s Ministry Kitchen is an attempt to offer an alternative – certainly less time and money – maybe a little less personal but hopefully in this webinar/digital/TED talk age accessible to more people at times they wish to access it.
